Frequently asked questions

Experience is not required – we provide on-the-job training. Throughout your employment, you can contact the supervisors or team leaders, who are always ready to help you.

Yes. We encourage you to come and work together – this can help you feel more comfortable in a new environment. We also offer a referral bonus for successfully recommended candidates who are hired.

Your earning potential is unlimited. Your pay depends on your performance, experience, and the amount of work completed – the number of seedlings planted, hectares maintained, or cones collected. The more efficiently and productively you work, the more you can earn. The exact payment terms are discussed during the job interview.

We organise and cover the cost of both travel and accommodation. We also provide all the workwear and tools required for the job. Forest maintenance workers are additionally provided with work boots. You only need to arrive ready to work – we take care of everything else.

A typical work assignment lasts 2–3 months, followed by a rest period of 2–4 weeks. The assignment schedule is planned according to seasonal workloads and weather conditions.

During the season, we work in different European countries. From mid-spring to mid-autumn, most projects take place in Finland and Sweden, while from mid-autumn to mid-spring, we mainly work in Germany and Austria. Depending on the projects available, work may also be offered in France and Lithuania.

No, you do not need to speak a foreign language. Work is carried out in teams where employees communicate in their native language, so the language barrier does not prevent you from settling into the job quickly. However, if you would like to become a team leader in the future, English is required, while knowledge of German is a major advantage, especially when working on projects in Germany and Austria.

To travel on a work assignment, you must have a valid passport or national identity card, as well as a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). This card confirms your right to receive necessary healthcare in European Union countries.

If you do not have an EHIC yet, you can order one free of charge through the E. sveikata portal or by contacting your local health insurance fund. . The card is usually issued within a few working days, so we recommend arranging it before leaving for work.

For a work assignment, we recommend bringing valid identification documents, your European Health Insurance Card, a bank card, and a driving license if you have one. You should also bring personal hygiene items, a towel, bed linen, any medication you may need, and comfortable clothes for your free time. We recommend bringing sturdy waterproof footwear, insect repellent, sun protection, and enough food for the first week, unless you are told otherwise before departure.

At SKOGRAN, we value motivated and responsible people. Many of our supervisors began their careers working in the forest, so anyone who shows initiative, reliability, and a willingness to grow has the opportunity to develop alongside the company. If you perform your work to a high standard and are ready to take on more responsibility, you may progress to become a team leader or supervisor.
